The US cartoon series "Invader ZIM." was probably best-known for being staggeringly dark and misanthropic, at least for a kids' show, and gained something of a cult following on account of it.

The Irken are a diminutive, unpleasant species bent on galactic domination, though fortunately not very good at it. The flag appears on one of the screencaps here. The annoying magenta/purple colors are derived from the hull-color scheme of Irken warships.

The presumptive Irken naval ensign is a pennant with the symbol rotated 90º. It can be seen flying from the conning tower of the planet Mars (made mobile by being fitted with colossal engines)in the episode "Battle of the Planets."

the Irken Earth Invasion Expeditionary Forces, numbering exactly 2, is under the command of the titular Zim. Given the numerical disadvantage, some subterfuge is necessary.
